THE PITTSBURGH HEADSHOT PHOTOGRAPHER FOR YOU
THE PITTSBURGH HEADSHOT PHOTOGRAPHER FOR YOU
Your headshot is often the first way potential employers and professionals you’re networking with will see your face. What do you want them to see? Surely not a selfie taken years ago or a rushed photo you had your friend take of you in your living room. Instead, your headshot should set you apart from other professionals. MKB Photography is here to make sure you’re putting your best foot forward when it comes to the headshot you’re putting on your LinkedIn profile, sending in for auditions, and anything else you need to use it for. I’ll make sure your headshots reflect the hard work and dedication you apply to your work or passion, because you deserve nothing less.

PITTSBURGH HEADSHOT PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATIONS
Headshots are the easiest type of portrait to choose a location for. For the One and Done and The Essentials packages, all you need is one or two plain, professional backgrounds, since your head and shoulders will be the focus of your photos. If you book The Works or the Full Portfolio package, you may want to choose a location with professional scenery that you love and want in more focus. For any professional headshot package, a location in nature works just as well as an urban one!

As a Pittsburgh headshot photographer, I have clients with all different needs for their professional headshot session. Some just need one photo for their LinkedIn; some need a few different options for auditions; some need a full portfolio for their personal brand or website. I’ve evaluated these needs and compiled the most popular packages amongst my clients.
The One and Done package is $65, The Essentials package is $95, The Works package is $135, and the Full Portfolio package is $200. If you have needs outside of these packages, please let me know!
Yay, I’m so glad you’ve chosen me to be your Pittsburgh headshot photographer! To book your professional headshot session, send me a quick request using my quote request form. I’ll get back to you with details about how to solidify your booking!
Choosing a location for your professional headshot session is typically very straightforward. You want to look for a location that has one or two professional-looking backgrounds. Solid or lightly textured (think brick!) walls work well. Likewise, gray, white, and black backgrounds often work best to highlight your skin tone. Strong architectural features, like skyscrapers, work well for corporate professionals, while nature can work best in the background for those who want more artsy, gentle headshots.
If you’ve looked through my list of recommended locations (found above) but you’re still stumped on where to go for your professional headshots in Pittsburgh, let me know and we’ll figure it out together!
We can take professional headshots in any season that you want or need! If you don’t like the extreme cold or heat, we can opt for an indoor location for your headshots.
We don’t want to be in any direct sunlight during your outdoor professional headshot session. Therefore, the best time of day for your session is during golden hour, which is the hour after sunrise or the hour before sunset. This is when natural lighting is at its best!
If it’s going to rain during your headshot session, we can typically switch to an indoor location. If switching to an indoor location doesn’t work out and I deem the weather too risky, you will be allowed one free reschedule!
The outfit(s) you wear during your professional headshot session should be just that – professional. They should align with the industry you’re in and the position or role you’re going for, if applicable.
I have a few tips you can follow to make sure your headshots are exactly what you need:
- Simple is better. Besides a suit jacket, try to avoid adding too many different aspects to your outfit. That way, less adjustments will be required.
- Solid-colored clothing photographs better than patterned clothing.
- Know the elements of your outfit. If you plan to wear a tie, make sure you know how to tie it. If you’re wearing a jacket, know which buttons should be buttoned.
- If you wear glasses and want to wear them in your headshots, take the lenses out. If possible, I always recommend that you wear contacts during your session instead of glasses to avoid glare and reflections.
- For corporate headshots, stick to clothing that covers cleavage, elbows, and knees. Don’t wear clothing with holes or stains.
- Plan out your undergarments. Avoid any undergarments that will be visible under your outfits.
- For corporate headshots, eliminate or minimize your jewelry and accessories. Don’t wear any flashy jewelry, and stick to simple studs or small hoops if you want to keep your standard lobe piercing in.
- Empty out your pockets. Anything you keep in your pockets will bulge and create a negative distraction in your final images.
- Bring along a backup outfit that you can change into in case of emergency.
The only professional headshot package that includes multiple outfits is the Full Portfolio package. If you have a different package booked, we will stick to just one outfit, but I encourage you to bring a backup anyways in case of emergency!
Unless you’re actively opposed to wearing makeup, you should wear makeup that’s natural but a little heavier than normal for your headshots.
When it comes to jewelry for your professional headshots, less is more. Remember, the purpose of your headshots is to present yourself in a professional, classy light according to the position or goal you’re vying for. I recommend removing any piercings beyond your standard lobe piercing, for which you should stick to simple stud earrings or small hoops – nothing too flashy. I don’t recommend wearing any other jewelry, as it only draws attention away from you in your photos.
That being said, if you’re applying for a job or role that encourages piercings or jewelry, feel free to wear them. Likewise, if your headshot is for a personal brand or website, then use your best judgement on how much jewelry to wear!
I lightly retouch every photo that I include in your final gallery. This includes softening under-eye bags, covering large blemishes, and removing deep lines, if applicable. However, your photos will still look like you, which is exactly what your headshots should look like!
It’s completely normal to feel shy or awkward in front of the camera. Let me do the heavy lifting to make you feel relaxed and natural. You don’t need to be a professional model to do this!
If you find yourself critiquing yourself the same way in photos (for example, “I hate the way my under eyes, arms, cellulite, insert other body part looks”), then let me know beforehand so that I can choose poses, camera angles, and lighting accordingly. We’ll avoid photographing features that you don’t love!
The One and Done package comes with one edited photo that includes your head and shoulders.
For a step up, The Essentials package includes one head and shoulders photo, one mid- or full-length photo, and one additional.
If you need more than the classic LinkedIn profile update, The Works package includes two head and shoulders photos, two mid- or full-length photos, and one additional.
For a comprehensive number of photos, the Full Portfolio package includes five head and shoulders photos and five mid- or full-length photos.
If you need a different amount of photos, contact me!
Every client is required to sign a contract in order to finalize booking. The contract is in place to protect you and me both. You’ll be able to (and are encouraged to) read through the entire contract before signing!

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND
Morgan is always amazing to work with! Her bubbly personality makes any photoshoot seem like a fun activity. She is very professional and also has a go-getter attitude. She did my senior photoshoot and patiently took several pictures – trying to capture the best ones. I would definitely recommend her!
